Power System Studies
A complete suite of power system studies built from one validated network model — from load flow and short circuit to EMT and grid code compliance.
One model, every study your project needs
Every DD Powertech study starts from a single network model built from real equipment data and validated before analysis begins. Load flow, short circuit, protection, arc flash, harmonics and dynamic studies all draw on the same model — so results stay consistent from one report to the next.
Deliverables are prepared to the applicable grid code and international standards, in the format network operators, owners and lenders expect, and we stay on through comment resolution until the study is accepted.
Connected studies, not isolated reports
Findings from one study feed the next — fault levels set protection settings, settings drive arc flash results, and harmonics shape filter and compensation design.
Shared base data
One validated model and data register for the whole project, so every study uses the same equipment data and assumptions.
Load flow as the foundation
Steady-state results establish operating scenarios for short circuit, protection, dynamic and EMT work to IEC 60909, IEEE 242, IEEE 1584, IEEE 519 and IEC 60071.
Results you can act on
Each study ends in actions — setting sheets, mitigation designs and compliance evidence — not just tables of results.
Every study we deliver

Power system studies — what clients ask us
Which studies are required for grid connection in India?
Most connections need load flow, short circuit, reactive power capability, ride-through (LVRT/HVRT) and power quality studies submitted to the CTU or STU. Larger renewable and storage plants increasingly also need PSCAD/EMT models and studies.
How long does a typical study take?
A single study such as short circuit or relay coordination usually takes 1–3 weeks once complete data is received. A full grid-connection study set typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on plant size and utility requirements.
Which software do you use?
ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD and PSS/E for network studies, and CDEGS for earthing. Where a utility or client specifies a tool, we model in that tool and hand over the native files.
Do you work on projects outside India?
Yes. We deliver studies to IEC, IEEE and the applicable national grid codes for projects in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia, and remote-coordinate with local teams and utilities.
What data do you need to start?
An SLD, transformer and cable data, generator or inverter data, utility fault levels and the protective device list. Where data is missing we apply documented typical values and flag them clearly in the report.
Can you handle grid code compliance for solar and wind plants?
Yes. We prepare the complete compliance study set, validated inverter and plant-controller models, and respond to utility comments until the studies are accepted.
Do arc flash studies include labels?
Yes. Every arc flash study includes incident energy results, PPE categories and print-ready labels for each piece of equipment studied.
How are your fees structured?
Studies are usually quoted as a fixed lump sum per study or study package, based on the network size and scope. Comment resolution with the utility is included in the quote.
